Democracy rests on four pillars legislature ,executive judiciary and the press. All have to realise their responsibility and function . I am afraid that the forth pillar ,press is not functioning the way it should function . The press is engaged in inciting violence and hatred among various sections of the society. They resort to emotional tampering without verifying the facts and truth . It is high time we take cognizance of the damage being done by press and take appropriate remedial measures.
Making regulations on press is a sensitive issue but it needs regulations too. Press is nowadays spreading hatred amongst communities by debates occuring on their channels.
But we should think about the solution, & my suggestions are to regulate them by providing necessary freedom too. And make them to aware citizens about their fundamental duties(Art51A).
